✨ Today was a powerful day of inspiration, literacy, and goal-setting in Ms. Colston’s fifth-grade reading classroom! ✨
We were honored to welcome Mrs. Milan Portis as a guest speaker. She did an amazing job encouraging, motivating, and connecting with our scholars in a meaningful way about reading.
Mrs. Portis came with three clear messages for our students:
1️⃣ Reach your AR goal by consistently reading your library books
2️⃣ Build strong study habits by completing homework and studying every night
3️⃣ Set goals and believe in yourself as you work to become a better student and a better version of YOU
Mrs. Portis shared amazing stories about what inspired and motivated her to become a lifelong learner. Mrs. Portis didn’t just talk to the students—she connected with them. She encouraged them, listened to them, challenged them, and left them believing that their goals matter. #TransformersStrongerTogether #inspire #motivate

Fifth-grade students in Mrs. Griffin's class did an outstanding job of listening to Ms. Andrews' lesson on using online tools to find books. Students selected books using the procedure that Ms. Andrews has put into place. They made intelligent choices, choosing books on their new AR level. Ms. Andrews awarded the class as a Bucket Filler! Students should read their AR books every night for 30 minutes to an hour and return to school to take an online AR test. We are encouraging all students to reach their AR goal by March 13th, which is the end of the third quarter! #TransformersStrongerTogether

Mrs. Harris is teaching her students how to compare two fractions with different numerators and denominators using concrete models. Students also had to explain that the comparison of two fractions is valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. The students first explored the fraction strip, then used it in the lesson. #TransformersStrongerTogether
